Thoughts from Fastpitch on Tournaments

One awesome thing about tournaments is just seeing the girls do big things, get good hits, make great plays, accomplish things others may not have thought they could. Then when you have the top two teams in the end have to take it to the "if necessary" game, what more could you ask for? That's some great softball! Couple tournament thoughts in my mind right now:Yelling at umpires and insulting them isn't going to score you any brownie points with them and is unlikely to help your teamYou really should apply sunscreen more than once per day (I'm a bit toasted) Having more than one pitcher is always great, but more than one catcher is also something you need to be prepared with for long tournament daysHydration is sooooooo important and easy to overlook when your in the "heat" of the momentToo many deserving girls get left without a team because coaches are trying to pull "the best" girls together from different teams to create a "hammer" team and these players' original teams are left in shambles (with not enough players) while coaches of the "new" teams (often times dads) don't ask them to play
When coaches start putting winning above all else, things can get real ugly real quick and the GIRLS are the ones who get the short end of the stickWhen you see a well coached team, it's obvious - when you see a team with coaches who don't have their stuff together, it's equally obviousPlayers often save their coaches butts!When something is working, it really shouldn't be changed
I'm sure there's more floating around in my head, but I think that's enough for now
